I'd like to think I have a pretty adventurous spirit. I'll try anything once. Except if it's a bug. I'm not going anywhere near that. I believe that life is made up of the moments when you're doing the things you love. I don't really like the idea of a bucket list, but I do like the idea of writing down goals, places to see and so forth. When I talked about Mardi Gras the other day I couldn't believe how many people have never been. So in my humble, not educated opinion, here are 17 things you should do at least once in your life. I haven't done them all, but I intend to.
1. Have no debt
I think it's pretty important to be financially stable. When you have no debt you can do the things you want to do like accomplishing your travel bucket list.
2. Travel Alone
This is something I have yet to do, but it's something I know I would love to try. I think it teaches you to stand on your own two feet, meet new people, and see the world in a different way.
3. Mardi Gras in New Orleans
The best party in the whole world is on the streets of New Orleans on Fat Tuesday. It's a magical place all the time, but the beads, floats, music and people really bring out the fun Mardi Gras day.
4. Road trip with your best friend
You learn a lot about a person by being in the car with them for an extended period of time.
5. Live in a different country
It's far fetched, but I feel like you'd learn a lot.
6. Visit Las Vegas
Vegas is one of the most interesting places I've ever been to. It's over the top, but totally worth at least one visit.
7. Stand in Piccadilly Circus in London
It's said that if you stand there long enough you're bound to see someone you know. It's a whirlwind of lights and screens and people, surrounded by history. There really is no place like it, and hey you might see someone familiar.
8. Christmas in New York
I feel like I'm fairly well traveled, but I've never been to the Big Apple. I especially want to see the city decorated for the holidays.
9. Cause a scene dancing
This might sound weird, but I think you've never really lived until you make people part ways for you to dance. Just trust me on this one.
10. Camp out
Roasting marshmallows by the fire and gazing up at the stars make me feel one with nature. Plus, there's limited cell service, so you can really experience the great outdoors.
11. Watch the Eiffel Tower Light Up
This is the most romantic thing in the history of ever. It is Paris, after all. And you don't even need a date, just some wine.
12. Sneak in Somewhere
It's always makes for a great story and it's a thrill. Just don't get caught.
13. Have a whole day to yourself
A day to do whatever you want, on your own terms. This is what mine would look like.
14. Do something out of your comfort zone
Whether it's going to a concert with a large crowd, jumping out of a plane, or learning a new skill – you never really know until you try.
15. Own a home
It's the American dream.
16. Listen to someone's story
Whether it's your parents or grandparents or someone you don't know.
17. Have a job that you love
Needs no explanation, we should all do something that we are truly passionate about.
What would you add to the list?
