Today's Total Social could not be easier, thank God. I need something easy. In case you're unaware it's less than 24 hours before I'm leaving for Europe and I still have lots to do. Also, I have bad Travel Anxiety (although one time I swear I knew something was going to happen, and I was right). It's not the flying, it's the forgetting. Did I really get everything I need? Probably not. And so I write with tense butterflies.
For Total Social today, Sarah and I are talking about Favorites. Favorite WHATEVER. I told you, easy. In case you need a refresher, here's what Total Social is all about. For my favorites I'm going to go through some of my favorite things.
Favorite book: “The Crowning Glory of Calla Lily Ponder” by Rebecca Wells
You probably remember Wells from The Ya Ya Sisterhood books, but this book just spoke to my soul. Yes, it's a little cliche but who doesn't love cliches? She writes women so well and reminds me of what my mom probably grew up with living in Louisiana.
Favorite Song: Etta James “At Last”
If you know me, you know I love music but I change songs like I change lip balms. I use it all the time and then I forget about it once I've worn it down. There are of course those few that stick out, this being one of them. This was the last song Michael and I danced to at our wedding (Oh we had a first dance, a party theme, a last dance AND a dance just for the two of us. ) But it also makes me think of my Mom, we would belt it out on the way to Shreveport while my Dad and sisters were in the back trying to sleep or play video games. We still do that to this day.
Favorite Color: Neon. Because neon is a color. Fine, pink. Yes I know that's girly of me.
Favorite Meal: Marie Calendar's Chicken Pot Pie. I love those things. They are bad for you but they are comfort foods. I used to eat them after dance practice and not blink an eye. Now, not so much.
Favorite Picture: I'm saving that one for Instagram but who can really just choose one? Here's one of my favorites:
I realize this is corny but get over it. Michael's dad took this picture when we were visiting each other in college (you can tell it's college based on the length of Michael's cropped cut). Those times we would see one another we basically couldn't stand to be apart so even though I probably didn't care about what he was reading, I went out there with him and probably fell asleep in the hammock. Favorite Year of Life: Wait, what? This isn't normal? Oh. Well mine was age 6. The Golden years. The time before my sisters weren't alive to ruin everything. Also age 17. That was senior year of highschool when I met Michael and I took my first trip without my parents.
Favorite Place: I just realized that this trip marks my 10th trip to Europe (I've been very fortunate that my parents taught a study abroad program so I got to tag along). But, my favorite place is still Seaside, Florida. My family goes every summer (although the past few years I haven't had the vacation time to go to both Europe and the beach).
Favorite Movie: Please excuse what a hopeless romantic I am/ still want to pretend I'm 6 years old – it's an odd dilemma. But it's going to be a tie between Pride and Prejudice (the Keira Knightley version) and The Sandlot. Just go with it.
Favorite Blog Post: It's really hard to pick out a post you really like that you've written but I said I was going to, so here I am. I could go with the most popular post (which is this one by the way) but I'm sure I've met my quota in using the word Tomorrowland for the week. But since I need to get this show on the road I'm going with the one that comes to mind: That Time I Danced On A Cruise Ship. It's really hard to get your complete personality through a blog post, but I think this shows you just how ridiculous I am. (A close second being No Pants Dance– which apparently has 69 comments currently and I find that hilarious.)
