Two years ago I went to Spain. Barcelona, Ibiza, Segovia, and Madrid to be exact. It was a wonderful, whirlwind trip filled with glances at gorgeous Gaudi architecture, sprints through the Ibiza airport, swims in unreal beaches, frolics around ancient waterways, and views of flamboyant flamenco dancing. But there was one thing I just didn't like: the food.
I tried the tapas. I cringed at the croquettes. I practically passed on the paella. (Do you like my ise of alliteration?) But it just wasn't my cup of tea. I didn't really mind because the wine made up for it. Delicious crisp white flavors to the decadent bold red wines. I've had a hard time finding the same wine in the states. Until… I found Ribera y Rueda.
It's been raining like crazy here in Dallas, but when the sun came out, and Michael happened to be home for work I grabbed him, a blanket, some wine glasses, and headed outside. I picked up my blanket, whatever snacks were in the refrigerator, and opened the bottles of wine.
I can't get over that the sun came out. It's been forever. Seriously. Luckily, the refrigerator had some grapes, cheese, and leftover Mother's day cheesecake that were perfect for our little picnic.
The winemakers of Ribera and Rueda are located just an hour away from Madrid, in Spain. The flavors are bright and ripe and go well with almost any meal. When opening the bottle you can taste the flavors of Spain. It's perfect for a romantic night.
Sí What’s Next from the Ribera del Quero and Rueda regions of Spain. The grapes flourish in the warm temperatures by day and cold air at night. Check out Ribera y Rueda's tumblr for more wine inspiration.
