It's Monday. Michael and I just drove from Dallas to Forrest City (outside of Little Rock, Ark.) then from Arkansas to Nashville. It rained during the entire 10-hour drive. Tornado warnings forced us to pull over and park under an underpass — not sure if it was safer to sit there and be hit by a car, or keep driving and be blown over by tornado winds.
But we made it.
I'd also like to point out that I drove most of the way. So I really think I'm going to kick 2016 off with a bang. One of my New Year's resolutions is to take more responsibility. “Helene becomes a real adult in 2016.” I'll keep you posted.
With the holidays over, it's time to review this past year. I'm taking it easy today and posting about some of my favorite things from 2015. For one, I love products. I'm a girl (I know that's a shocker) and I love to try new things. This year was a good year for skin and makeup products, if you ask me. So, here are what I found to be among the most life changing products of 2015:
Lashes
For the first time in probably 10 years I changed mascaras. I have always used L'Oreal Double Extend mascara. Always. I've posted about it. And while it is an awesome product, when you try Maybelline “Push Up Drama” you might change your mind. I have tried everything from the cheap 99-cent stuff to Dior. Lash Push-Up just works. I watched this video and ordered it immediately.
Here's a pic of me wearing it.
Foundation
Another Maybelline product (so awesome and inexpensive) which I've raved about is IT Cosmetic's CC Cream. And while I do love it (especially for the summer for SPF) it's kind of expensive. Then I discovered Maybelline's Matte + Poreless Foundation. At under $8 this is the best stuff for the money that I've ever tried, plus there are several options to match your skin tone.
Face
I'm obsessed with IT Cosmetics. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. A few months ago I tried the company's “Bye Bye Redness Correcting Creme.” You can wear this alone or under makeup to mask red or splotchy skin. I have naturally red undertones, especially around my nose. This product works like a charm. Plus, I don't feel like I have to use a ton to cover up. Just a quick dab.
Lipstick
I actually made a resolution last year to wear lipstick everyday. I didn't do it everyday, but almost. My latest obsession? Lancome's gorgeous colors. It's the richest color I've ever tried and actually stays on. Also the makeup tube is magnetic. Cool. I think this will help me keep that same resolution in 2016.
Lotion
Next up, Skinfx. I am weird about lotions and creams. I need them to be SUPER moisturizing because my skin gets really dry and flaky during the winter. But I need it to go on smoothly. Most lotions provide a quick fix, but don't get to the heart of the problem. So, you have to reapply often.
Not with Skinfix. It's non-greasy (the most non-greasy product I've ever tried), and seems to penetrate skin without leaving residue behind. It's safe to say I can't live without this product. This lotion rubs on super fast and absorbs fast so I can get dressed and get going.
Oh, and the line also includes a chapstick. I keep it by my desk at all times (hence the first picture above.) You can check out the newsletter for deals here. P.S. If you have eczema, try the ultra rich lotion or soothing lotion.
Slightly like Oprah's favorite things, I'm offering you a chance to win a Skinfix lotion set. Enter in the rafflecopter below:
