I woke up this morning and checked my stats (like I normally do) but this time I scrambled to grab my phone. Michael was sleeping, but I woke him up and shoved the screen in front of his face. “I hit a million page views!” I screeched. Maybe it's silly to get excited about that. And it certainly took a while, but I can't help it. And it does make a good segway for the news I have today. But let's start from the beginning.
I like to pretend that music festivals are my job. I travel 5,000 miles to go to one in Belgium. Or take off days off work for a last minute trip to Austin. My ultimate dream in life would be to travel the world and blog about music festivals. It's a lofty dream, but a dream nonetheless. A few months ago I was speaking with an advertiser I was working with on my blog. He asked me what my most popular posts were. It was always the same thing: Music festivals.
I can be kind of pushy when it comes to music. Every weekend I come here and post a Weekend playlist. I figure everyone must like what I like because, hey, this is good stuff! Then on Saturday I went for a hike with my sisters and I put on my music and they told me after a few (27) minutes that they wanted to listen to something else.
“What?! But this is so good!”
I'm getting a little side tracked here. When I started this blog I wanted to write about everything I was interested in. One of those interests has grown into it's own category, one that frankly, needs it's own outlet. Not everyone that reads this blog cares about the new “Disclosure” album. Or that I'm going to Tomorrowland in 50 days. Looking through my drafts folder in my blog, it's bursting at the seams with posts about music festivals.
At the end of my phone call with the advertiser he told me that it would be a good idea to start a separate blog. It's something I had been playing around with. So I did. I bought a domain name. Asked the best designer in the land to help me. I toyed with the idea but decided it was time to let you know, my blog had a baby.
And that baby is a girl.
And her name is…
I decided to keep with the theme of rhyming words: Helene and Between and now Queen. Growing up my friends used to call me Queene Hene. It was my email address.
I will still blog about music festivals on Helene in Between but I will heavily blog about music festivals, how tos, tips, reviews and so forth without bombarding those that really don't care.
It will be easy for those that really do care about music festivals to get the info they want and ask questions.
I hope you will check out my new blog “The Festival Queen” and if you're so inclined you can follow it on Bloglovin and Facebook!
I appreciate the support and would LOVE your feedback!
