Typically, I'm all butterflies and rainbows when it comes to my husband. Usually. On the blog I try not to go into a sticky sweet saga about his wonderful qualities. But, he also pisses me off like no other. Relationships should have their ups and downs. It's what makes the good times great. But occasionally he makes me want to hurt him.
He's better at certain things. Historically, women are the neat and tidy ones, nagging the men in their lives to clean up after themselves. He has to nag me. He's better at cleaning and he lets me know it. “You just never think to clean the refrigerator.” He's right, I don't.
He pretends he can't hear me. “What did you say?” Oh I know you heard what I said. On the other hand, he mumbles. Oh my God, does that boy mumble. Sometimes he'll be walking in front of me and talk as if I'm in front of him or right beside him. I'm behind him. How can I hear him? Speak up and speak clearly for goodness sake.
He doesn't care about any fad, whatsoever. It's proven that fads aren't always the right idea (I'm looking at you, Justin Bieber) but he just refuses things just because they're trendy. Such as: Facebook (really any social media), anything designer (he does not own any Polo), and road biking (he says mountain biking is for real men.)
His mustache. In all honesty, I think I'm getting used to it. I thought it looked dumb and I can't believe he stills rocks it, but it doesn't bother me as much now. What does bother me is when I kiss him and feel prickles of hair on my upper lip. It's not pleasant and it's not cute.
Despite what some might say, no one has the perfect relationship. And I like being perfectly imperfect.
I have a real treat for y'all today! Alisha, of The Alisha Nicole
on the blog today! This girl really knows what she's doing and I hope
to follow in her footsteps by starting my own business one of these days
(still trying to find out what that should be!). But this girl has a
blog, a shop AND a consulting service. One word: wow. So I asked her some questions about it all:
You're an entrepreneur how did you start your business?
Starting my business was actually pretty random! I could never find jewelry that I felt fit my style and my budget so I figured I could try making my own. I ended up falling in love with the entire process of creating jewelry and began giving my pieces away for free to family and friends. It wasn't until people began asking me to make custom pieces for them that I decided to turn it into a business.
How do you balance blogging and the business?
I never sleep! No, but its really tough! Time management is something I struggle with but I have found that making a to-do list and then only focusing on the things that need to be done immediately helps a ton!
Why did you start your blog?
I was in a really confused point in my life (hello pre mid-life crisis!) and I just needed somewhere to vent and share a little inspiration when I came across it. I never thought in a million years it would turn into something I'd be really passionate about!
When did you make the move to doing your dream job full time?
Ive been a full-time business owner for a little over a year now. I was extremely unhappy in my previous job and felt the only way for me to take back control over my life was to take a leap of faith and do something that I love!
If you could start your blogging/business journey all over, would you change anything?
In my blog I probably would have taken it seriously a lot sooner than I did! But I wouldn't change anything about my business. I feel like I had to make a ton of mistakes so that I could share my journey and hopefully prevent others from doing the same.
What's the coolest thing to happen to you since you started blogging?
I'd have to say the coolest has been meeting people from the blogging world in real life. I tell people all the time I have a ton of blogging friends “in my head” but when you can actually sit across from them its a really cool experience!
How did you gain traffic/followers?
It took me a little minute to actually start sharing my blog with people but once I did I went crazy! I commented on other blogs every chance I got, I would start random conversations with bloggers on Twitter and I got into sponsoring other blogs. Its really all about the relationship you build with people and branding yourself. Oh and staying consistent!
If you could offer one piece of must-have advice to an aspiring blogger, what would it be?
I would definitely suggest only blogging about things you are truly passionate about. Its so easy to get caught up on what is working for other bloggers but what works for them may not work for you. And trust me your readers can tell!
