Before we get started with today's #Blogtober14 prompt I have to write out what happened yesterday. I was in the grocery store, around 10:45 AM. I was very fashionable of course. Wearing my red Amsterdam sweatshirt with a stain on the sleeve, leggings, and my tennis shoes; I went in to buy meatballs and some Diet Coke.
In the soft drink aisle, I see this older gentleman giving me a hard stare. I tried to mind my business but he just wouldn't stop. I finally looked over at him and smiled.
He frowned and said, “Shouldn't you be in school?”
I laughed so loud I almost fell over and promptly told him my age.
And that's how you make this 27-year-old's day.
I know what you're thinking. Asking someone to pick ONE childhood memory that's your all-time favorite is near impossible. But because Taylor and I love posting pictures of us looking awesome as kids, this is today's prompt. So tell us a favorite.
Childhood for me was awesome. It helps that my parents were the greatest ever. But growing up, most memories were spent with my best friend, Hayley. She is the first friend I had and we spent countless summers together swimming at the pool, going on Indian Princess campouts with our Dads, and pretending like we were twins.
Hayley and I were constantly putting on a show. I don't mean like normal kids, every now and then. I'm talking about constantly. I'm really not sure how our parents put up with it. Hayley always sang “There's no Business Like Show Business” and I would sing something from Singing in The Rain.
One time in particular, we were over at my house and we decided that we needed to become famous. It just wasn't fair to waste all that precious talent. We sat in my room for what felt like hours recording our radio show on cassette tapes.
We would record, then play it back, deciding where we needed to improve. We were good. As good as any 8 year old can be. I remember thinking, I'm going to make it. I'm going to be on the radio.
I'm not sure where those tapes are now, but we sure were a comedy duo!
