Behind every successful blogger (in most cases anyway) is a successful writer. I am utterly amazed by those who have written and published their books. I'm also very envious.
I've been working on “a” book for what feels like my whole life. I'll always have a new idea or a plot twist. It's my parent's fault, really. My Dad has been working on a book for a while now about journalism during the civil rights movement (the man has already won a Pulitzer Prize for his journalism at the Dallas Morning News.) My Mom just PUBLISHED her first book and had a book signing last night.
Did I mention my mom wrote this book in a year? One year. She's published a book that will make a mark on Dallas' history for centuries to come. My parents are the coolest.
To say I have big shoes to fill is the understatement of the century.
But regardless, it's wonderful to grow up with parents that you idolize. When my Mom was writing her book this past year, my Dad was there to help her edit and encouraging her. How cool and sweet is that?
My Mom's publication has lit a fire under me. I NEED to get over myself and just do it. It's also made me realize how important it is to have a support system. Then when I got to thinking about it, the blog world is the ultimate support system. We build each other up.
I know this because I've sent Taylor my writing all the time for her to tell me whether or not it's crap. Wouldn't it be great to have a group where we can bounce off ideas, get FREE editing, ask questions, and just have some encouragement?
Next month, November, is National Novel Writing Month. So I wanted to get a jump-start on this and create a group where we can support each other.
So I created The Novel Blogger.
It's totally free to join. All I ask is that you spread the word so that other aspiring bloggers and writers can join, too. Click here to tweet!
Plus! I made a calendar and checklist to get your writing on the right path.
I'll be updating the Private Community with resources as well as sharing some of my book…eek! Taylor and I will both be admins, answering questions and hopefully we can all connect and support each other.
