I'm a late bloomer. Not when it comes to what you're thinking, but when it comes to my skin. I used to lay out in the sun for hours on end. Now I bring sunscreen and wear a hat. Even when it's hot outside I'll wear long sleeves to protect my arms. I used to sleep with my makeup on. Now I wash my face twice a day.
Now that I'm getting older, it's more important and more evident to me that I have to take care of my skin. I have a lot more redness in my face and oddly enough, I break out more, unlike my teenage years. For the past few months I've been following a fairly simple skin care routine. Today I wanted to break that down for you.
Here's my morning and night routine:
1. Wash face. I know, mind blown. But seriously, I always have to remind myself to get over it and do it. I like to use an exfoliating face wash since my skin is prone to being oily.
2. Toner. I feel like this helps clear up my skin and take off anything else my face wash might have left behind.
3. Moisturize. I have one for the morning and one for the night. The morning is a lighter, less hevy feel with SPF 50. The night has no SPF and is more moisturizing.
My skin is gradually clearing up over time. I used to always carry concealer with me. I was embarrassed by the acne on my face. Now I feel like I can embrace my face without makeup. A no- makeup picture to prove it:
