Oh love. It's such a roller coaster.
Just kidding. I hate roller coasters, they always make me want to throw up and I hope that love doesn't do that to you. To me, it's more like a marathon. It's hard, it hurts, it's rewarding, and you're glad you did it. Okay, enough with the analogies. Today is Michael's birthday, so I wanted to write a post about him. Or really anyone, that is the one for you.
They're are proud of you. Sometimes Michael talks about something I've done recently and he's excited about it. In turn, you're proud of them and seeing them happy makes you happy.
You have inside jokes. All of my closest friends, and my husband and I, have inside jokes. It just seals the deal. And makes you laugh forever.
They make life an adventure.
They make you so incredibly mad. Yet you love the absolute shit out of them.
They remind you of a family member you really care about. For me, that's my Dad. Michael and my Father have some similarities that I really admire. It might also be why I want to kill Michael sometimes.
They make you want to be a better person.
You grow together.
You might not always have the same ideals, but the things that are important are similar. Michael and I don't always agree on politics, in fact, usually we don't. But we both have a similar moral character and want to spend money on the same thing: travel.
You can be independent from another.
You talk about your future and dreams together. They're part of the plan.
They make you laugh.
You can talk to them about everything. Especially the hard stuff and most definitely the silly stuff. They will listen to the weird dream you had last night about the rat that turned into a mountain lion.
They make you feel important. And you want to do the same for them.
Your favorite place is when they're there.
You just know.
How do you know you've found the one?
