First things first, I was named the Best Local Blogger in Dallas!!! This morning I was notified that I won the Dallas A-List's best local blogger and proceeded to properly scream and call my mom.
Thank you to everyone who voted! I am still in complete and utter shock.
And now, because I don't know what to do with my hands, here's how my July 4th went down:
The day before Fourth of July I drove to Walmart to grab some
last-minute necessities. I saw a lady holding a sign advertising for
some closeout sale at a furniture warehouse. She caught my eye and I
almost wrecked the car watching her. The lady wearing dark denim cut off
shorts, a black tee, and a scrunchy she found from 1989- was twerking.
She looked like she was having the best time ever. One hand propping up
the sign, the other waving side to side with her gyrating hips. Here's someone who could be having a terrible time making minimum
wage, but instead she's living to the fullest. To me, that's American.
No matter your life circumstances, you can live the dream.
I had
as much fun as you can possibly cram into a 3 day weekend. Michael and I
drove up to our friends lake house in Tyler, Texas and enjoyed some of
the best fireworks I have ever seen over the lake.
The next morning we dressed in our best red, white, and blue and watched a local parade, cruised the lake, and I managed to stay on a tube for a number of minutes.
We then headed to Arkansas and hung with some friends at Byrd Adventure Center. We did some off roading (I did some freaking out), some swimming and some oooh-ing and aww-ing at the views.
Michael decided we didn't have enough outdoor adventure, so we went to Lake Fort Smith State Park and hiked 6 miles. It was long and hot, but well worth it.

The Home T, you might remember I talked about it here, now has tanks! Sun's out gun's out y'all! Mine of course is showing my Texas pride! These are the softest, most comfortable tees and tanks I own. I might just need one for Louisiana too- I mean my family is from there! Of course, it's made in the USA and, as with all of their products, a portion of profit is donated to multiple sclerosis research.
It's safe to say the dogs and I are tuckered out. America really knows how to throw a party.
