Right now I am getting ready for my friend's wedding. So, I thought this would be the perfect excuse to come up with a wedding weekend playlist. These are some of my favorite songs to hear at a wedding.
One on the main concerns for my wedding was the playlist. I love music and I know that certain songs really make everyone want to dance. Dance = fun and fun = a successful wedding (in my book).
So when it came time for the music I knew exactly what I wanted. I still have my wedding playlist saved to this day and sometimes I look at it and reminisce.
Here are my top 10 songs for a wedding:
1. Etta James “At Last”
Tell me it's cliche, I don't care. Aren't all classic songs cliche anyway?! This song is one of my favorite not just for a wedding, but all time. This was our last dance song and I will always remember watching the room swirl as he spun me for this last moment at our wedding. It's the perfect song, “At last, my love has come along.”
2. Dixie Cups “Chapel of Love”
This song might now be played at your reception but it's the quintessential wedding day song. I am getting choked up even thinking about it so I'm going to stop now.
3. Frank Sinatra “The Way You Look Tonight”
I guess the theme of this post is just going to be to get choked up. This song is perfect for the bride. Afterall, it's about the bride, don't try and tell me (or any other woman) differently. And we only get to put on that white gown one time (hopefully).
4. Nat King Cole “LOVE”
I love love and I also love acronyms and this song has both. I also love Nat King Cole and his voice might be one of the best of all time.
5. Marvin Gaye “Let's Get It On”
Get over it. It's true. But it's still classy.
6. Ke$ha “Tik Tok”
I don't know about you but I personally like to have a little Ke$ha at my wedding. Everyone will dance to this song. Probably even grandma. And little kids will even sing about brushing thier teeth with Jack Daniels.
7. Blackstreet “No Diggity”
Oh, I know this isn't a typical wedding song but this is my jam. I could have easily used this on “song that define me” link up. This should also be played at my funeral, thank you.
8. Ray Charles “Night Time is The Right Time”
I am huge Ray Charles fan, but whether or not you are, this song is a classic. I love the back and forth between the girl and guy and the whole melody of this song.
9. Miley Cyrus “Party in the USA”
Everyone likes a good old Party in the USA. This is not only one of my favorites, but Michael's as well. And it's usually found on almost all of our party playlists. Ok, it's on every single one.
10. Isley Brothers “Shout”
You simply cannot go to a wedding without hearing Shout. It's one of, if not the best wedding songs of all time since it involves the entire wedding getting low as they possibly can, screaming and dancing. If you don't play this at your wedding, it's simply not complete.
