Today's the day! Come link up and tell everyone: What songs define you?
When I first set out to start this link up, I thought: This ill be easy, I love music and it always has been such a huge part of my life. Boy was I wrong. This was actually really hard since so many songs played a huge role in my life. But these are some of my favorites and definitely bring back memories .
Otis Redding “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay”
At a very young age my mom taught me about “good music.” I was required to know the classics. I would get quizzed in the car about singers like: Etta James, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones… I could go on. I now appreciate more than ever that she taught me a deep love of music and this song springs to mind. It reminds me of my Mom and of a childhood full of good music that's continued today.
Hit Me Baby One More Time by Britney Spears.
I bought the TAPE of this song. It came out in good ol' 1998. I was 11 years old. When that song came out that was it. I was obsessed with her. I played this song every chance I could. When the music video came out I learned every single choreographed move. I dressed up like her for Halloween. My almost decade obsession with her started here. I can't NOT dance to this song. Every time I hear it, I imagine myself in the school girl outfit tapping my pencil waiting to get out of class.
Ciara “Goodies”
I was obsessed with this song in high school. One time, my two girl friends and I heard the song on the radio, stopped the car in the middle of the street and danced. Every time I hear this song it makes me want to get down. And it takes me right back to the good ol' high school days of no responsibility except for after school home work and which boy would take me to the Homecoming Dance.
Peter Gabriel “In Your Eyes”
This is Michael and I's “song.” We dated senior year of high school and college and I would visit him and he would visit me. One day I was down at Texas A&M and we were talking about our favorite songs as we strolled through the grocery store. We both said this one. As we get in the car and turn on the radio, this song is playing. We laughed and said one day we will play this at our wedding. Fast forward a few years and this was the last song we danced to on our wedding day.
Steve Aoki and Kid Cudi “Pursuit of Happiness”
I had to put an electronic song on here, since it's such a huge obsession/part of my life. Whether or not you like that genre of music I think anyone can appreciate this song. Whenever I'm feeling down this song instantly puts me in a better mood. And it makes me want to fist pump.
