All of my bags are packed and I'm ready to board the flight. Along with my anxiety. No matter what, I always get nervous before a flight. It's not that I'm scared of flying, it's that I feel I have no control.
I thought I'd give you a run down of my trip, in part for my own sanity and so you can see where I'm headed.
We are meeting in Houston since that's the cheapest way to fly out, plus one guy (Josh) is coming from Denver, Michael and I are in Nashville, and one (Sidney) lives in Houston. I'll be the only girl with 3 guys. Which is the norm on these trips. But I do have to deal with a lot of farting… wish I was joking.
We leave Houston and fly (so, so many hours) to Singapore. (November 20th).
That night we'll fly from Singapore and arrive in Bangkok, Thailand. (November 22nd). We'll spend One Night in Bangkok. Just kidding, I just wanted to use that song lyric. We'll spend a few days in Bangkok, then leave November 25th for Chiang Mai, also in Thailand.
I'm really excited to go here since we're attending the Festival of Lights (the one with all the big white paper lanterns, that light up the sky!) Also known as Yi Peng Festival in Chiang Mai.
On November 28th we leave Chiang Mai to go to Krabi (the beach!). I've seen pictures of the beaches in Thailand and they always leave me speechless. Crystal clear light blue water dotted with pointed tipped wooden boats and cascading rocks. I cannot wait to see what they look like in person.
On November 30th we have two flights. One from Krabi, back to Bangkok. then to fly from Bangkok to Siem Reap, Cambodia. We'll spend a few days exploring the city, especially the temple of Angor Wat.
On December 1st, we'll travel back to Bangkok, then fly from Bangkok to Hanoi, Vietnam. In Vietnam, we're taking a cruise on Bai Tu Long Bay. I looked up some pictures of this and basically my mouth dropped. It looks unreal!
On December 6th we leave Hanoi, Vietnam and land in Singapore.
When we arrive in Singapore we have a layover of 9 hours. We did this
purposefully. We want to see Singapore but heard it's extremely
expensive. So, we'll just spend the day exploring, without having to
fork out for a hotel.
So there you have it! that's my plan in Asia! I'll be updating Instagram (@heleneinbetween) and Snapchat (helenesula) throughout my trip, so come follow along!
