Oh hello there! I know you might be celebrating the day of love, but I'm in New Orleans and I'm celebrating Mardi Gras. That's right. I found a last minute flight to New Orleans after I realized I did, in fact, have Monday off. I'm telling y'all, this is the cheapest flight ever. I basically HAD to go.
So, in the spirit of the season, here's the Mardi Gras Playlist:
1.The Meters “Mardi Gras Mambo”
You can't have Mardi Gras without the mambo. One of the most famous Mardi Gras songs and it always puts a smile on my face.
2. Dr. John “When The Saints Go Marching In”
This whole song reminds me of New Orleans, but it's also perfect for the parades during the celebration.
3. Rebirth Brass Band “I Feel Like Funking It Up”
This song takes me straight to the street parades with the brass bands and the baton twirlers. One listen, and you'll feel like you're right there swaying with the crowd.
4. Choppa “Mardi Gras Wobble”
I listened to this song proabably 1,000 times in college. We danced and sang and even named our Facebook albums after it. It's perfect to get low to.
5. Professor Longhair “Mardi Gras In New Orleans”
You can't really get more classic NOLA that Professor Longhair and this song.
6. Dixie Cups “Iko Iko”
You can't help but listen to this song and clap along.
7. Buckwheat Zydeco “Throw Me Something, Mister”
One of my favorite sayings of all time “Throw Me something, Mister”, this girl loves beads.
8. Stop, Inc “Second Line”
Just imagine me dancing to the streets during this one.
