The Best Winter Destinations in Europe

Winter in Europe is like a snow globe come to life. The fantastical scenes of Christmas markets, the smells of roasted nuts, and the snow flocked chateaus make a dreamy scene. But the best part? Visiting Europe in winter time usually means you can find cheaper flights, accommodation, and less crowds.Having 3 winters in Europe under my belt, I've selected my top 14 Winter destinations. I tried ... Read the Post

I dropped everything. Packed up two suitcases (and two dogs) and my husband and I moved to Europe from Texas, to travel the world.

Ditch the normal. Create your best life (and blog). Travel, Blogging, Life, and well, everything in between.

  • When we moved abroad so many people asked if we moved because of Trump 😂 No, and for the record we moved right before he got elected. I don’t intend to share my personal politics but I do think that living here has changed me significantly in the way I look at the political system and government as a whole. This isn’t something I’d thought would happen but it’s been so good for me to change my point of view. Seeing how others live and the hardships they’ve faced under their own government isn’t just eye opening, it’s ground breaking. At least, for me. I knew moving here would change me but I didn’t realize just how profoundly. In my stories today I’m sharing some of my posts on what I’ve learned about Germans since living in Germany. Has living or traveling to a place ever changed your mind? #heleneinfrance
  • It’s the LAST day to enroll in Instagram for Success!!! I only offer this course ONCE A YEAR. Join 3,000 other students who are killing it on Instagram. I want to help you grow, gain engagement, and monetize your account.
But Instagram is MUCH MORE than just followers and likes. You need a strategy to understand how to grow your Instagram, make authentic connections, and find your purpose. My course, Instagram for Success gives you all the tools and strategies you need. But it’s closing TODAY. Link in bio for all the details on the course.
I KNOW this can help you- no matter what stage you’re in. #heleneinitaly
  • Spring, not trying to rush you but you can come on now. I’ve talked to the other seasons, they’re fine with it. Anyone else feeling a little stir crazy with winter weather? 🤪🤪🤪 P.S. getting a tourist free shot in front of the castle isn’t hard- especially if you get there early. We got there smack in the middle of the day and as long as you shoot up close you’re fineeee #helenelovesgermany
  • Once, when we lived in Nashville, we went camping with our friends. We were sitting around the camp fire and I talked about how invested I was in the Harry Potter books. I was VERY late to the game and just started reading them (yes, only 3 years or so ago🙈. WARNING: if you haven’t yet there is a spoiler ahead.) I was on book 4 and talking about how much I liked Snape. Without warning my friend said, “Oh yeah, Snape kills Dumbledore.” To this day I will never ever forgive him for it 😂 Watching the half blood prince today it made me think of when I almost killed @crendanbox. Forget don’t forgive (right @saramay101?!)
  • I would not be a full time content creator if it wasn’t for a class I took 4 years ago. I wasn’t making money but I just knew I HAD to do something for myself. That course changed everything for me. I took me years to realize this but... it’s OKAY to invest in yourself!
My course, Instagram for Success is officially open. It’s a course I’ve built and perfected over the past 4 years. I only open it up once a year. I’d love for you to join me and thousands of others who have sincerely grown their Instagram with passion and purpose. Link in bio or stories to learn more 🙌🏻
  • While y’all have cute stories of love and flowers my forever favorite Valentine’s story is what I like to call the “Love Comma.”⁣
On V-day 2007ish, Michael visited home from Texas A&M University. We had been dating long distance (we started dating senior year of high school) and I was thrilled beyond belief to To celebrate valentine’s. In my little red dress and lipstick, I went over to his Mom’s house and handed him my handmade Valentine's gift (a picture of us in a frame in which I wrote all our inside jokes around the border.)⁣
His eyes widen as he moves into the living room. “What are you doing?” I ask. I hear him fumbling, and finally say, "Uh Uh UHHH, In HERE. Your um, Valentine’s gift.” I walk in to beautiful light pink roses. Yay! Oh, how sweet, I loved them.⁣
⁣
At the end of the night, I'm about to⁣
leave, and pick up the roses to take them home. His brow furrowed and his his lips pursed as he looks at the bouquet and says, "Oh Helene, just leave them here." I'm so confused, they're my flowers, I want to take them home where I can see them. We go back and forth about why I should leave them there, I'm puzzled. Finally I get it: “These are your Mom’s flowers... aren’t they?” ⁣
“Yes.” He vows to make it up to me tomorrow. ⁣
The next morning he comes to my house. He parks his red truck, which he affectionately called Delilah, and I spy him out the window sitting in the car far longer than I deemed necessary. He finally comes in, and hands me a card. Michael did not write a single word other than, "Love, Michael D. Sula." I look up at him, wide-eyed and say, "All you think of me is Love COMMA Michael?"⁣
⁣
Needless to say, Michael always remember to write a little more than "Love Comma Michael" in a card. And I try to not take V-day so seriously, and just remember it's a "love comma" not the whole story. I know that's a little sappy, but it's true. Happy Valentine’s Day y’all! #heleneandmichael
  • They say your lowest point in life might lead to your highest. I would never have believed that if it didn’t happen to me. Sharing my journey to becoming a full-time “travel blogger” on the Blog today. Honestly, when I started out I had absolutely NO intention of blogging full time. Or even traveling! But sometimes your path shakes out differently (and even better) than you imagine. Link in bio or stories and lots of old blog pics to boot! #helyeahheidelberg
  • “You must strive to find your own voice. Because the longer you wait to begin, the less likely you are to find it at all. Thoreau said, "Most men lead lives of quiet desperation." Don't be resigned to that. Break out!” - Dead Poets Society
SUPER PUMPED about today’s upcoming Instagram Workshop! Talking about finding your voice, growing authentic engagement, photo editing, and my all time favorite secret hack for growing your Instagram and I promise you it has nothing to do with spending hours on insta. Can’t wait y’all!! Promise my hair will not look as crazy as it currently appears on stories. Maybe. #heleneinlithuania
  • Sometimes this app makes us feel like we aren't enough. We need more photos, content, poses, likes, followers, clothes, experiences. I think Instagram is often the lens in which we see the world.
We see ourselves through our Instagram. So if it isn’t performing well we often take that personally. And while I love this platform to share my message, I also am fully aware that it can feel damaging. I think (hope) it's a place where we feel inspired and want to share our best selves, but also showcase those moments that are hard. Because really life is about all of those things and that makes us who we are.
P.S. TOMORROW is the day of my live Insta training and I promise to get deep on how we can find real meaning on Instagram, grow organically, and create a true following. Anyone can have followers, but a community that cares and builds you up is a true measure of success☝🏻
